Dial with color
ODialer is the native dialer app that ships with ColorOS, the Android skin that runs
Oppo devices
. It boasts a design aesthetic that is in line with the company's overlay. It shows a
categorized history
that provides you with detailed information on names, numbers, and call times.
Cross compatible
As the sister brand of Oppo, the ODialer app can also serve
as an alternative
to the stock dialer on OnePlus devices. It shares many similarities with its
OxygenOS counterpart
from a UI design standpoint, so you won’t take long to get accustomed to using it. Compared to the
Phone
app by Google, it boasts a more colorful aesthetic that blends well with the whole operating system.
One of its other highlight features is the
built-in call recorder
that works on both ColorOS and OxygenOS. This will come in handy for users residing in regions where Google’s own voice recording feature is not supported. A new feature added in version 16 of both is a new
AI Transcription
function. You can now have phone calls automatically transcribed into text, eliminating the need to manually take down notes.
All that said, the ODialer app is not exempt from bugs and issues. While the call recording is great, it’s still
not as widely available
to more regions. Also, despite being one of its main features, there’s a lack of management options for recordings, which is rather puzzling. Lastly, other users report experiencing random call disconnections and app crashes, but hopefully, these issues will be addressed promptly.
Nice and simple
If you use an Oppo device, then you already have and use its ODialer app for your daily calling and communication needs, so keep it updated to get the latest features. If not, install it now to get the
unified look and experience
that the company's ColorOS provides.
