With an excellent
animated style
, a smooth fighting mechanic, and many
unlockables
, Spider Fighter 3 is a fun game you can enjoy even
offline
. It has its own limitations, sure, but it’s still a must-try, comparable to

Save people, or not
What makes Spider Fighter 3 immediately endearing to superhero fans is its
art style
. It feels and looks a lot like a comics-inspired work. You have a colorful environment, stylized character designs, and gravity-defying stunts. What it
lacks in a soundtrack
, it makes up for with flashy set designs that often include graffiti. Massive billboards plus posters and artworks sprawled on walls—these elements make the game visually immersive.
For the gameplay, there are
two modes
to choose from. One is a
story mode
that puts you in a series of missions. Unfortunately, this part of the game scales poorly. It feels like a
repetitive
experience, with the game’s enemies often increasing in number or frequency, but never in difficulty. On the other hand, you have a
sandbox mode
that lets you freely go around town.
Aside from the opponents moving and fighting you being the same throughout, the town could also use additional elements such as different types of vehicles. These can add movement and energy to the game. Surprisingly, the only people on the map you’ll find are the human enemies and a couple of extras. It could use a greater variety of moving elements for players to better enjoy the spider-themed hero’s abilities.
A fun Spider-Man spinoff
There are a lot of games that take the Spider-Man character and take it to create one-dimensional releases. Spider Fighter 3 is one step beyond these titles, offering a truly enjoyable web-slinging experience. The sets are well-designed, and the movement and combat animations are of good quality. While it still could use more moving elements, plus a more challenging progression, it works as a casual swinging game.
